Instructor Position in Human Development & Family Sciences
The mission of the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences is to promote the health and well-being of individuals, families, and relationships across the life span through research, teaching, service and community outreach and engagement. Our Department offers a wide range of courses in the areas of early childhood, human development across the life span, interpersonal relations, and family science. We have over 600 undergraduate majors and offer core course to students across the university. Graduates of the department become qualified to pursue a variety of careers in education, human services, health, advocacy and business, and/or pursue graduate studies. Instructors in HDFS are supported by an array of departments at Texas Tech: Teaching Learning and Professional Development Center, Texas Tech Worldwide eLearning, Center for Transformative Undergraduate Experiences, University Writing Center, TTU Library, Technology Services, and College of Human Sciences Advising.
The Instructor will:

- Contribute to the university's mission through undergraduate teaching
- Teach undergraduate courses for the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. Classes may be offered through face-to-face or online modalities, and the point of duty will be in Lubbock, TX. Courses topics may could include, but are not limited to, human development across the lifespan (e.g., child development, prenatal, adolescence), family dynamics and relationships (e.g., family, parenting), research and theories in human development and family sciences (e.g., methods, theoretical foundations) and human development in context (e.g., cross-cultural perspectives, community, global perspectives).
Qualifications
A master's degree in HDFS or a closely related field (psychology, sociology) is required and a doctoral degree in HDFS or a closely related field is preferred. Effective teaching ability demonstrated at the university level. This position will be classified as Security Sensitive and requires a criminal background check if selected for employment.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Family Science
The Department of Human Development and Family Sciences at Texas Tech University (TTU) seeks applicants for up to two full-time, 9 month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions to begin September 1, 2023 with research interests and expertise in family science across the lifespan. General areas of expertise may include intergenerational family processes and adult children-parent relationships; grandparenting and extended kin relationships; intergenerational caretaking; loss and grief; and family health and well-being across the lifespan. We are particularly interested in individuals whose research interests may include LGBTQIA member families, racial/ethnic diversity in families, sociohistorical contexts for families, socioeconomic and health disparities, and resiliencies in families.
Qualifications
In line with TTU's strategic priorities, applicants are required to have earned a Ph.D. by the start date in family science/human development and family sciences or a related discipline such as psychology, sociology, or education and a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to working with diverse student populations and colleagues. Strong candidates will demonstrate past success and/or potential for future success in meeting the responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities will include: conducting research, publishing in well-respected journals, and obtaining external funding; teaching and mentoring undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degree students; conducting outreach and engagement activities with the community; and service to the department, college, university, and the profession. Preferred qualifications include candidates who have a record of research, teaching, and service relevant to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as CFLE accreditation. Candidates will be expected to teach a variety of family science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Located on an adjacent campus, the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health.
