Stacy Johnson, M.S.

Teaching Focus

Stacy Johnson serves as the full time Director of the Christine DeVitt and Helen DeVitt Jones Child Development Research Center and Instructor for the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.  She teaches face to face classes on development and programming for preschool aged children.  Stacy has over 26 years working in programs serving children under the age of 6, including work with Head Start and Early Head Start.  She is passionate about high quality developmentally appropriate programs for young children, their families and high quality adult/child relationships.  Stacy values the opportunity to provide students with both lecture/discussion as well as observational and hands on experiences with young children under the age of 6 years.

Community Outreach and Engagement Activities

Stacy has worked as a Validator and Mentor for the National Association for the Education of Young Children's accreditation system and has served on Parent Teacher Association boards, Campus Performance Objective Committees, The Lubbock Area United Way's Partnership Council, Region 17's Preschool Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports project as well as on the board for the West Texas Infant Mental Health Association.
