Sophia Lyons is an academic senior majoring in Psychology with a minor in English. It is meaningful to Sophia to learn research involving community experiences for those differing from the current typical populations, i.e., LGBTQIA+ and multicultural / mixed-cultural communities. Through gaining a better understanding of psychological factors in human behaviors, she aspires to develop ideals in preventative care. The PARA lab offers her mentorship and an opportunity to explore the interwoven family processes. Working with Dr. Chan and the PARA Lab team, Sophia looks forward to learning about ambiguous loss and resilience for those families who experienced the COVID-19 pandemic and dementia. In the rare occurrence of ‘free time', Sophia enjoys struggling against her cat for a yarn ball that is attached to her latest crochet project and supporting her sister at local art events.
