Joanna is currently a second-year graduate student in the HDFS Doctoral program and works as a research assistant for the PARA Lab. Joanna earned a M.A. in General/Experimental Psychology from California State University, Fresno in 2022 and completed her B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Developmental Psychology from California State University, Stanislaus in 2020. Her research interests include parent-adolescent child relationships, Asian American families, racial socialization, mental health outcomes, and the impact on development. Being a second generation Asian American, Joanna is excited to explore more of her own Community and the intergenerational family dynamics. Joanna's professional goals include working toward a professorship at a California State University and teaching about lifespan development, and members of marginalized cultural groups. In her free time, Joanna enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially her dog Shoto, watching reality tv, eating at new food spots, and doing some mindful movement.
