Tirza Alcala presented her research on parent perceived autonomy support & adolescent emotion regulation and how its shaped by parental PTSD symptomology.
October 2023: Jordan Disney and Triston Dees presents at the Womens and Gender Studies Conference!
Triston and Jordan presented their first research talk at the @TTUWGS colloquium on associations between teen perceived similarity to gender groups & mental health, & the protective role of siblings.
October 2023: Tirza Alcala presents at the TTU TrUE Transformers Symposium!
Tirza presented an impact talk at the @TTU_TrUE Tranformers Symposium on her research identifying parent autonomy support as a buffer against the negative effects of parent PTSD symptoms on teen dysregulation.

July 2023: Girls Who Code
Hosted by ttuSTEM, Girls Who Code, Christy and Tristian had a blast chatting with middle-school girls about using neuroscience and neuropsychology to better understand teens and to support their happiness & health!

May 2023: Dr. Rogers awarded Professor Ally of the Year Award
Dr. Christy Rogers received the Professor Ally of the Year Award! This award was presented by Darci, the undergraduate student who nominated Dr. Rogers, at the Lavender Graduation Ceremony. This honor was sponsored by the Office of LGBTQIA Education and Engagement.
May 2023: Joanna Rivera Receives GSA Award!
Joanna Rivera received the honor of the Peer Excellent Award from the Human Development and Family Sciences Graduate Student Association. Mentorship, connection, and department culture are very important in HDFS—congrats on this amazing recognition, Joanna!
April 2023: Triston Dees presents at the Womens and Gender Studies Conference!
Triston Dees presents his first poster at TTU Womens and Gender Studies Conference! H shared his work on “The role of siblings in the coming out journey of emerging adults.”
April 2023: SIBS Lab takes on SRA in San Diego!
Dr. Rogers received the SRA Outstanding Interdisciplinary Research Award for her collection of research examining the influence of siblings on adolescent decision-making through the brain!
Derek Morgan chaired his first symposium, “Sibling Relationship Experiences in Adolescence and Young Adulthood: Links with Adjustment and Well-Being.” He also presented his own paper on, Problem Solving and Relationship Closeness between Adolescent and Emerging Adult Siblings Predict Later Social Efficacy.”
Ashlinn Peters presents their first poster at SRA! They shared their work on the “Associations Between Problematic Eating Behaviors, the MMPI-A-RF, Emotion Regulation, and Family Factors in Healthy Adolescents.”
Tina Greene presents their first SRA poster! They shared their work on the “Convergent validity of internalization-focused Restructured Clinical (RC) scales on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory–Adolescent–Restructured Form in a community sample of teens.”
