Joseph S. Kleypas, MSc.

Bio

Mr. Kleypas is an Assistant Professor of Practice and the Director of Student Career Services for the Department of Hospitality and Retail Management. His hometown is Keller, Texas, and he received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Texas Tech University. 

Mr. Kleypas has over fifteen years of restaurant industry experience, including corporate and family-owned establishments. Furthermore, he has taught a variety of retail and hospitality-centric courses involving operations, beverage management, marketing, consumer behavior, and leadership. He is also completing his Ph.D. in Hospitality, Tourism, and Retail Management. 

Outside the university, Mr. Kleypas is an avid soccer fan, golfer and enjoys spending time at his family ranch in central Texas.

Service Focus

As the Hospitality and Retail Management Career Services director, Mr. Kleypas coordinates industry connections and professional partnerships to provide student career opportunities in hospitality and retail before and after graduation. Furthermore, he oversees the HRM internship program and assists students with part-time hospitality and retail jobs while attending Texas Tech. Mr. Kleypas is also involved in student recruitment, retention, and high school/community college outreach.
