Sara Garza leads team in transforming spaces into meaningful places
Sara Garza graduated from the College of Health & Human Sciences in 2008 with a bachelors degree in interior design with a minor in architecture. Today, Garza is the proud founder of Punch World Studio, an interior design firm located in Dallas, Texas.
Growing up in West Texas, Garza knew she wanted to attend Texas Tech University. The reputation of the interior design program immediately stood out to her.
“I can very confidently say now, 13 years later that Im still so pleased that I chose Tech,” Garza said. “Id choose it again!”
After graduating, Garza moved to Dallas where her career began with a heavy architectural focus. During that time, she began to realize her true passions aligned with interior design. Following seven years of running a wedding photography business with her husband, Garza felt led to create something of her own, leading to the creation of Garza Interiors, an interior design studio, in 2017. After recently having a designer on the team become a partner, the studio rebranded to what it is today, Punch World Studio.
“We like to say we turn spaces into places – environments that not only serve a function but also enhance the way people feel and experience life,” Garza said. “A well-designed space can provide comfort, inspire creativity, and become a true retreat from the outside world.”
Recently, Garzas personal home in Dallas was featured in Architectural Digest, the premier magazine for interior design and architecture. After only submitting the homes completed spaces, which included the bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchens, Garza was thrilled to find out the magazine was interested in doing a feature on the entire home.
“When they instead expressed interest in a full home tour, I was beyond excited,” Garza said. “However, that meant we had to complete the remaining rooms in just seven weeks – a whirlwind process, but an incredibly rewarding one.”
Through all her success in the interior design world, Garza acknowledges the crucial role that Texas Tech and the interior design program played in preparing her for her career.
“The interior design program provided a strong foundation, especially with the integration of architectural principles,” Garza said. “The exposure to both design and technical skills like AutoCAD, has been invaluable, particularly when managing renovations executing plans with confidence.”
Garza is excited about the future of Punch World Studio, which is full of ambitious goals. She envisions growing the team and expanding the studios work into hospitality projects, including maybe a boutique hotel or restaurant. Above all, her main priority remains creating meaningful spaces for all her clients.
