Dr. Md Abu Bakkar Siddik is a dedicated postdoctoral research associate at the OMHL, where his journey began in January 2022. His academic and research journey at Texas Tech University (TTU) commenced in the fall of 2016 when he joined as a graduate student, eventually earning a Ph.D. degree in Nutritional Sciences.
During his Master's program, his research centered around a Methionine Aminopeptidase 2 (MetAP2) inhibitor, revealing its remarkable potential as an anti-angiogenic compound. His findings laid the foundation for considering the MetAP2 inhibitor as a promising therapeutic agent for combating obesity.

Driven by a passion for scientific inquiry, Dr. Siddik pursued a Ph.D., delving into the intricate connections between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism. His work explored novel avenues for addressing Alzheimer's disease through metabolic interventions.
Currently, Dr. Siddik working with a team of graduate students focusing on an adenoviral protein with potential anti-diabetic properties. The ultimate objective is to secure FDA approval for clinical trials related to this innovative protein. In parallel, he investigates the optimal dosage, duration, safety, and efficacy of a nanoparticle-based drug delivery system for that anti-diabetic agent.

Dr. Siddik has showcased his research findings at several prestigious international conferences, including Neuroscience 2021, Obesity Week (in 2018, 2020, & 2022), Alzheimer's Association International Conference (in 2019), and the American Society for Nutrition (in 2019, 2020, & 2023).
Prior to joining TTU, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Beyond his scientific pursuits, Dr. Siddik enjoys a diverse array of interests, including travelling, culinary explorations, fishing trips, and cherished moments spent with his loved ones. His daughter, Nuwairah, holds a special place in his heart.
