Coming Soon: Online CBEs and 24/7 Proctoring

By Leslie Cranford, Media Relations Coordinator

TTU K-12 has unveiled new online credits-by-examination (CBEs) that also have 24/7 online proctoring available.

The initial offering of online CBEs includes Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II and U.S. History. More will be added in phases; by summer 2019, all TTU K-12 CBEs will be available online.

Lisa Leach, director of Instructional Design and Curriculum Development, says there are benefits to online CBEs that traditional print CBEs don't have.

"With our online CBEs, you can enroll and take the test the same day," Leach said. "And the feedback is immediate. You don't have to wait for the test to be mailed to you and mailed back before you get a grade."

And with the addition of Proctorio, a 24/7 proctoring service, Leach says there is no need to search for a proctor and go through the proctor-approval process.

Proctorio is a remote proctoring service TTU K-12 is employing for some quizzes and exams.

Leach says outside proctors are sometimes difficult to find and schedule. Also, there is often a fee for outside proctoring services. Using Proctorio takes the hassle and guess-work out of finding a proctor.

"Proctorio is available 24/7. Students can take an exam at 2 a.m. if they want to," Leach said. "Much like the courses themselves, proctoring is available at anytime from anywhere."
