TTU K-12 Advisor Enthusiastic for Student Success

By Joshua Blount, Editor

As a young girl, Lisa Stone always enjoyed learning and experiencing new things. Her elementary school teachers had a huge influence on her, and she knew early on that she wanted to be like them when she was older: an educator.

In 2008, she earned her teaching certification and since then has helped many students navigate their educational paths with TTU K-12. She currently works as one of TTU K-12's outstanding senior academic advisors.

Her decision to join TTU K-12 was due to both Texas Tech University's reputation and the flexibility that TTU K-12 allows students. Unlike some other institutions, TTU K-12 provides a self-paced curriculum that allows students to work at their own speed. Lisa also saw a unique opportunity to work closely with students and their families as well, to see the student's graduation goals realized.

Lisa believes that the most satisfying aspect of her role is seeing students succeed. Her enthusiasm to see students reach their goals, however, extends beyond just education.

"I really enjoy seeing our students work through their struggles, whether academic, social, or emotional, and complete their courses," she said.

Lisa hopes that TTU K-12 will continue to grow and be a top-rated homeschool option for full-time and supplemental students, and that the students will continue to grow and succeed as well.

Lisa's advice to students is to plan out their daily schedule and not procrastinate. She also suggests reaching out for help whenever there may be confusion.
