 TTU K-12 Community:

I hope that your semester is going well. Over the last several newsletters we have provided brief updates on some of the academic changes TTU K-12 has been making to better serve you, our students and parents.

This month I want to highlight some exciting co-curricular activities that TTU K-12 has implemented and what's in the works for next semester.

Last year, TTU K-12 established a virtual National Honor Society. We have 20 students actively participating in our NHS program, and one of the students' first virtual service projects this semester was to develop a Top 5 list for success in online courses. If you are interested in learning more about our NHS program I encourage you to look at this page on the TTU K-12 website, fill out the interest form, and someone from the NHS faculty council will get back in touch with you. You'll find a story about the Top 5 lists and a link to them included in this newsletter.

We are also pleased to announce that we now have a virtual Student Council for our TTU High School students, and we plan to add a TTU Middle School Student Council in the next year. Elections for our high school student council will be announced soon.

About a week ago, we posted a survey onto the TTU K-12 Blackboard page regarding tutoring. Your answers to the survey will help guide TTU K-12 as we evaluate the needs of our students. The survey should take less than five minutes to complete. Please encourage your students to take the survey.

In the spring you will see information about a new ACT prep course called ACT® CollegeReady™. This is a tool that will create a personalized learning path for students to address any knowledge and skills gaps in math and English, so the student is empowered to address their individual college readiness needs. Read more about it in this newsletter.

We believe these new co-curricular opportunities will be incredibly beneficial to you, our TTU K-12 students, parents, and partners. Please let us know if we can do anything to help you be successful.

Sincerely, and Wreck 'Em Tech!

Justin R Louder, EdD
Associate Vice Provost
Interim Superintendent, TTU K-12
