Dear TTU K-12 Family –

As I work from my home, amid social distancing and endless hand washing, I first want to thank you for trusting us with your education, or if you're a parent, the education of your child.

Texas Tech University along with most other educational entities across the country have taken unprecedented measures to “flatten the curve” of COVID-19 to help slow the spread of the disease. As a fully distance-learning program for over 26 years, TTU K-12 is still open and here to serve our students and their families. You can find all of the information pertinent to our COVID-19 response by visiting our COVID-19 page. There we will keep you updated on relevant topics such as waiver of STAAR testing, AP exam changes and SAT/ACT information.

If you have completed or are planning on completing graduation requirements in the coming months, we know you may be looking forward to attending our onsite commencement ceremony in May. We are still planning to hold graduation on May 30. We are monitoring developments and local restrictions very closely. If we determine that the 2020 ceremony has to be postponed, canceled, or move to a virtual commencement, we will make an announcement as soon as the decision is made. We know what an important milestone commencement is; however, the health and safety of our learners, your families, and our staff is our number one priority.

There also has been a lot of talk about helping our neighbors in this trying time. With that, we would like to add, if you know of any students in traditional public or private school who may need a way to try to finish their semester, please point them toward our CBEs. They may be able to test out online to finish one or more courses. Again, that information can be found by clicking the banner at the top of this newsletter.

Stay safe, heed the recommendations of knowledgeable officials, and we'll make our way through this. If you have any questions or there is a topic we have not addressed, you're always free to contact us at ttuk12@ttu.edu.

Thank you, and wreck 'em Tech –

Justin R Louder, Ed.D.
Associate Vice Provost
Interim Superintendent, TTU K-12
