Since the late 1990s, TTU K-12 has established partnerships with high schools in Brazil. With a long history of partnering with high schools in the South American country, a new program is starting for younger students.

"Here in Brazil we have 7th-grade and 8th-grade students in the program," said Luciana Shimocomaqui, recruitment manager for Liberty Education. "About 20 students are taking English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and the Money Matters course."

The program is taking place at Colégio Nomelini in Barretos, São Paulo. Liberty Education brings about 30 school partners to TTU K‑12.

Shimocomaqui says the TTU K-12 middle school program is very important for students' development, considering it is preparation for the concurrent diploma high school program. It also helps students to develop their knowledge in the English language.

"Having this introduction to the process is especially valuable, as they can have contact with the blended learning experience through the Blackboard portal and face‑to‑face classes."

TTU K-12 welcomes the new middle-schoolers to the Texas Tech family!
