With December signaling the end of the academic year in Brazil, TTU K-12's long-standing partner country held commencement exercises prior to the end of the year.

Liberty Education makes up the bulk of the TTU K-12 partnerships in Brazil.

Seven schools comprising 27 students held their virtual graduation ceremony on Dec. 2. These included Colégio Acadêmico, Colégio Carlos Chagas Filho, Colégio Nomelini, Colégio Sapiens, Colégio Sarah Dawsey, Colégio Sigma and Colégio 7 de Setembro.

TTU K-12 leadership supported the event virtually, with addresses from Justin Louder, interim superintendent, TTU K-12; and Braxton Allison, assistant principal, TTU K-12. Others making speeches included Daiane Amaral, coordinator, Colegio Sapiens; and Henrique Soarez, Colegio 7 de Setembro principal.

Schools in the Bom Jesus Liberty Education partnership graduated an additional 65 students on Dec. 14. Partner schools include: Bom Jesus-Centro, Bom Jesus-Lourdes, Bom Jesus-Internacional Alphaville, Bom Jesus Internacional Aldeia, Bom Jesus -Canarinhos, Bom Jesus -Santo António, Jesus Coracá de Jesus and Bom Jesus Itajai.

Students enrolled in these partnerships earn a concurrent diploma – one from their home high school and one from Texas Tech University High School.

Vinícius Toth, from partner Colegio Agostiniano Mendel in Sao Paulo, is one of those students. He scored 1510 on his SAT (800 in the math section!). He also delivered to his fellow students a presentation with tips for the SAT.

"TTU expanded my horizons, helped me overcome my limitations and develop important qualities, like organization, creativity and communication," he said.

Giovanna Ghedin is another TTU High School Class of 2020 graduate, from partner Colegio Sapiens, in Porto Velho.

She says she had to learn to deal with the adversities in her personal life, and with all the challenges of the program itself, she acquired many skills for life.

"High School for me is, and has always been, a way of trying to achieve new things," she said. "The program made me grow, not only as a student, but also as a person."

These students will go on to attend colleges and universities across the globe, some most likely at Texas Tech University, as graduates of TTU K-12 have a fast-track admissions process and scholarship opportunities available.

TTU K-12 teachers, staff and administrators congratulate all our 2020 Brazil graduates!
