Graduation season is in full swing across the country, and TTU K-12 is planning its annual on-site commencement ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 22) on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

In tandem with the in-person ceremony, the event will be live-streamed on theTTU K-12 Facebook page. Be sure to follow the page to find it easily the day of the celebration.

“We'll be back in the beautiful McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center,” said Principal Cari Moye. “We're also having it a bit earlier this year, due to ongoing challenges with venues, as a result of COVID. But we're excited to have it in 2021!”

Nearly 200 students have finished their high school requirements throughout this past academic year. About 30 are traveling to Lubbock to walk the stage and represent both the Class of 2021 and the Class of 2020.

Moye added that the health and safety of everyone involved will be of the utmost importance for the spring ceremony.

“We're planning around all of the current state and local protocols regarding COVID-19, including requiring masks, temperature checks and distancing,” Moye said.
