TTU K-12 loves our student athletes!
Today we introduce Jade Martinez, a sophomore in Texas Tech High School! She is currently training to compete in the U17 Womens Concacaf Championships in the Dominican Republic for a chance to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in India.
Visit the Concacaf Women's Under-17 Championship website for the tournament schedule beginning April 23.
Jade currently plays center mid for DKSC 05 ECNL Bones. She is a very smart technical player with great vision. Decision-making is her biggest skill.
She began playing soccer at age three with her twin brother, Joshua. Soccer runs in her blood, with both parents and her older sister Jordan also playing the sport. Her dad Juan coached all three of his children.
This is Jades first year at TTU K-12. After several call-ups with the U17 Mexico National team, including trips to Spain and the Czech Republic in 2021, homeschool was the best option for her to chase her dreams and continue her education.
Still young but also very experienced, Jade has advice for other aspiring young athletes.
“Continue chasing and working for your dreams to make that dream a reality! Hard work goes way farther than talent ever could. With patience and determination, you can go as far as you are willing to go!”
