Who will be the 2025 spelling bee champ? What will be concocted or exploded in the science labs? What is an iOS lab, anyway? Texas Tech K-12 students have a chance to get the answers to these questions and meet up with fellow students at the second Raiderpalooza, coming to the Texas Tech DFW site next month.

The event is Jan. 28 (Tuesday) at Texas Tech DFW, 4201 State Highway 161, Suite 250, in Irving. Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. with activities from 9 a.m. to noon. The gathering is open to current students and their families, prospective students and the public. Participants are asked to RSVP here.

Raiderpalooza is an opportunity for the school’s fully online students to meet their classmates and take part in fun learning opportunities, including the spelling bee, a nutritional sciences lab and physics and chemistry labs. They will also get to experience the new iOS programming lab as well as other fun activities.

Lauren Holder, a junior and Texas Tech K-12’s student council president, will be attending for the second year. She emphasized the incredible opportunity for students to not only engage in a variety of fun and educational activities but also as a way for students to meet up and connect.

“It's a unique chance for our online students to come together in person and build a strong sense of community,” Holder said. “Attending Raiderpalooza allows students to experience the best of both worlds – the flexibility of online learning and the excitement of in-person events. It’s a day filled with learning, creativity and camaraderie that students will surely enjoy and remember.”

Aside from the annual onsite spring commencement ceremony, the online students don’t have many opportunities to meet each other. The event is also open to school groups, homeschool organizations, alumni and other individuals to visit and see what Texas Tech K-12 has to offer.

“Raiderpalooza is such a fun event that not only has exciting activities but allows our students to meet some of our staff in person,” said Cari Moye, acting superintendent. “Last year we had a blast meeting families, learning about each other and making memories. I hope students and any families who are interested in learning more about us and what we offer will join us this year.”
