For students who graduate from Texas Tech K-12 and choose to continue their path as a Red Raider – attending Texas Tech University as their next educational step – there is financial help available in the form of a competitive scholarship.

“We have two types of competitive scholarships for our Texas Tech High School graduates,” said Jared Lay, director of Recruitment and International Partnerships for Texas Tech K-12. “We have one application for first-time college students, and we have one for current Texas Tech or transfer students –graduates of our program who are already attending here or at another university and wish to transfer to Texas Tech.”

But scholarships don’t just happen without support. Scholarship donations are encouraged and welcomed to continue bringing students to Texas Tech who have already been Red Raiders in secondary school.

“Our students go on to any number of colleges and careers, but it’s special when they choose to continue on to Texas Tech,” said Cari Moye, acting superintendent for Texas Tech K-12. “We are able to offer our scholarships thanks to generous donations from people who want to support our graduating students. Anyone can help enable the path to success for students by donating.”

Last year five new graduates were awarded $2,000 each for the 2024-25 school year. In addition, there were eight returning scholarship recipients. Students are encouraged to reapply for the aid at the end of each academic year they remain at Texas Tech.

This will be the 12th year Texas Tech K-12 has offered the competitive scholarship program, with a grand total of $170,000 dispersed. The new and returning awardees have been selected and are in the process of accepting their awards. Watch for more about these scholars in the August newsletter.
