Texas Tech K-12 Now Offering TSI Assessment for Grades 9-12
By Leslie Cranford, section manager

Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state-legislated program designed to improve student success at the college level. The TSI Assessment helps determine if a student admitted to college is prepared to take college-level coursework in reading, writing and mathematics.
Incoming college students in Texas are required to take the TSI Assessment unless they are exempt and will either be placed in college-level courses or placed in a developmental course depending on their test scores.

Charlotte Ward, academic advisor supervisor and lead counselor, says Texas Tech K-12 students are best prepared for TSI by taking advanced coursework in high school.
“I would suggest choosing AP courses in English and math and utilizing test prep materials such as the Texas Success Initiative Test Preparation course that we offer,” Ward said. “We also have College Prep English and College Prep Math elective courses available to our students.”
