TTU K-12 Portal - Guardian FAQs

Dear TTU K-12 Parents and Students: Over the past year TTU K-12 has worked to improve our ability to provide a streamlined, efficient and consistent process for providing enhanced support services for our students and parents.

Today, we are pleased to announce that we have completed our efforts and equipped the TTU K-12 call center to better serve your needs. We have also addressed concerns raised over the last several years. Our TTU K-12 call center will provide 24/7 access to qualified staff to assist with enrollment, basic advising, billing information, and technical support to our students, parents, and teachers.

Security of student data and information is a priority for Texas Tech University, and we have enhanced our ability to protect all student and parent information. When you call the TTU K-12 call center, you will be asked to provide your nine digit student matriculation number. This number can be found in the upper right corner of the screen after you log into the TTU K-12 Portal and click the MyProfile button in the left menu.

The call center will also maintain an authorized user list so that anyone that calls in with the matriculation number can be vetted and identified as someone that is authorized to access a student's record. Using the TTU K-12 Portal, students can request authorized users be added or removed from their account; they cannot request this activity over the phone. An authorized user could be a parent, guardian or counselor. Once a request has been made, the request will be processed by TTU K-12 staff within two business days.

To update your authorized user list, you will need to:

  1. Log into the portal and click on “My Profile” on the left menu bar.
  2. Click on the “Authorized Users” tab.
  3. Click on the “Request New” button.
  4. Fill in the information in the online form and submit using the “Request User Access” button at the bottom.
  5. Staff will then review the request and approve or decline on a case-by-case basis, depending on the information provided.

We have also launched a new self-help student services portal that includes FAQs and a live chat feature. To utilize the new TTU K-12 student services portal, please go to: studentservices.k12.ttu.edu. You can also reach the call center by dialing (800) 692-6877.

How do I access the TTU K-12 Portal?

Open a Web browser and navigate to https://portal.ttuk12.ttu.edu
From the login screen as shown below, enter your username and password and click "Log in".

After successfully logging into the portal, you will be taken to your Dashboard that shows your active students. The dashboard is your starting point in accessing student information, contact information, reviewing the student's enrollment history, enrollment details, course grades, lesson grades, and contacting TTU K-12.

How do I view my active students?

There are three ways to navigate to your active student information:

From the Dashboard screen, click on "View Details" within the Students widget. You will be taken to My Students page.

From the left-hand menu, click on "My Students" link to view more details. On the My Students screen, click on the "View Student Info" button within the grid.

After leaving the My Students page, you will see a page with contact information, course enrollment history, and course grades.

How do I view additional details of a course?

The fastest way to view specific enrollment details is to click on "My Students" on the left-hand menu. From the My Students screen, click on any "View Student Info" button within the grid.

On the "Enrollment Details" page, you can view course enrollment details, including the course description, instructor information, enrollment dates, expiration dates, and the final course grade once it has been certified by the teacher.

How do I reset my password on the TTU K-12 portal?

The user profile information is displayed by clicking on your name from the top right-hand menu. A drop-down listing appears, so select the "User Profile" to view portal information including the username, first name, middle name, last name, email address, and last login date/time. Click on the "Reset Password" button to change your password.

After you reset your password a dialog box will appear, and you will be asked to create and confirm your new password.

The rules for creating a new password are:

      • passwords must be at least 8 characters long,
      • must contain a mix of upper- and lower-case characters,
      • have at least 1 numeric character,
      • the numeric character must not be at the beginning or the end of the password.

The password change dialog will display a warning message in red until the typed in password meets all the requirements.

How do I contact TTU K-12 student services?

On the left-hand menu, click on "Contact TTU K-12" to view more details.

How do I view my students in the LMS (Learning Management System)

If you need to check your student's progress or view their assignment grades, click the LMS button on the left menu option and you will be taken directly into Blackboard.

Once you are in Blackboard you will click the Parent Dashboard link in the Tools Menu on the left side of the Blackboard Home Page.

If you have multiple students you will see them listed by username, number of classes, and last system access. To observe a student click their username.

If they have more than one course enrollment you will see them listed on the next page where you click the dropdown list and click Observe.

Course Home Page ->My Grades 

To view your student's assignment grades, click the "My Grades" link in the left menu option.

You can view All, Graded, Upcoming, or Submitted assignments. You can also change the order in which they are viewed using the Order by dropdown menu.

To observe another student, click the My Institution link on the top menu bar and you will be returned to the Blackboard Home Page. Click the Parent Dashboard to be taken back to your student list to select another student to observe.

 

NOTE: We have received some reports from users regarding the Safari browser. If you encounter issues navigating, viewing content, or uploading files, switch to another browser and try again. To view the Blackboard Support article regarding browser compatibility, click here. Safari for Windows is no longer supported by Apple and no longer offers Safari updates for Windows. Safari 5.1.7 for Windows was the last version made for Windows, and it is now outdated. Windows users should select another browser.
