Texas Tech University’s Renewable Energy Program offers transformative study abroad opportunities in Costa Rica, providing hands-on experiences with real-world renewable energy applications. These immersive programs allow students to witness cutting-edge sustainability practices while exploring the rich cultures and ecosystems of two of the most fascinating regions in the world.

Costa Rica: 99% Renewable Energy in Action

Costa Rica achieves 99% of its electricity through renewable sources, including hydroelectricity, geothermal energy, biomass, solar power, and wind energy. This program offers an opportunity to explore these technologies firsthand through guided visits to energy facilities across the country. Participants will examine how national policies, regulations, and legal considerations shape Costa Rica’s renewable energy development. Additionally, students will study at Texas Tech University's Costa Rica campus in San Jose. The program is open to all TTU students with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and at least sophomore classification.
