About Custodial Services

Custodial Services provides daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, common areas, and bathrooms for more than 50 education and general use buildings on and off campus. Daily service ensures that these buildings are ready for the business of higher education and the highest standards are maintained to provide a safe and productive campus.

Please see our Custodial Cleaning Specifications and Frequencies to see our cleaning tasks and schedules.

Operations Division Services custodial staff members clean buildings and disinfect restrooms to create and maintain and safe environment for Texas Tech students, faculty and staff. Operations custodial staff sanitize 758 campus bathrooms daily with a high-end disinfectant and fill soap dispensers every evening to promote healthy hand-washing habits. Custodial members are also trained to follow safety practices to protect themselves and others by wearing gloves and use clean-up kits while sanitizing areas containing bodily fluids.

Our Custodial Services staff is experienced and dedicated to the students, faculty, and staff of Texas Tech with an average of 17 years of service to Tech. Services staff practice the DuPont STOP safety program to provide a safe working and learning environment for our customers. Most of the custodial work is performed after hours — minimizing class and workplace interruptions — but you can call any time for emergencies and we will send someone to take care of the problem.

Equipment and products used to provide these services are Green Seal-approved or are otherwise designated sustainable products to promote a green, sustainable campus. Custodial staff members remove recycling from all E&G buildings to be taken to our recycler. Please note the blue recycle bins located in all buildings, and help us create a more sustainable campus.

Custodial service is also provided to auxiliary units as requested. Some of our current auxiliary services customers are the Athletic Department, Burkhart Center, International Cultural Center, Texas Tech Plaza, and Reese Center. Please contact us if we can be of service. Operations Division Services takes extra precautions to follow procedures and keep the campus safe, clean and beautiful.
