Our Programs
The Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development Center (TLPDC) coordinates several programs targeted to provide faculty, instructors, and graduate students with support and guidance to help them implement new teaching strategies and further develop their teaching experiences. For additional information on the various programs included in the TLPDC ecosystem, please follow the links provided below.

As a centralized institutional initiative, the Faculty Mentorship Academy actively supports and strengthens existing mentoring programs and efforts on the vibrant campus of Texas Tech University. FMA provides mentorship through mentoring circles, resources, and workshops programs for faculty across the university, and throughout different stages of faculty development.

The core mission of the Institute for Faculty Excellence is to foster ongoing career and leadership development, including and beyond the tenure, continuing appointment, and promotion processes. The IFE is equally dedicated to enhancing faculty well-being by cultivating an environment where faculty members feel empowered, supported, and equipped to excel in their teaching, research, and service roles within the institution, their professional field, and their lives.

The STEP Faculty & Student Partnerships Program is strategically blending the often-isolated approaches of faculty development and student success to create faculty-student partnerships that train both faculty and Learning Assistants (LAs) to create classroom communities that will enhance student learning and faculty satisfaction.

The purpose of the Teaching Mentoring Through Peer Observation (TeMPO) program is to facilitate interdisciplinary relationships among faculty to discuss teaching and create a culture that will help foster the participation of all departments in more consistent and high-quality peer observation and review. TeMPO participants are paired with other faculty members across disciplines, and engage in reciprocal observations of one anothers teaching during the course of the Fall semester.
Faculty are engaging with Generative AI in diverse and evolving ways. Our website features resources to assist you with Teaching with Artificial Intelligence. This site draws from existing university policy, national guidance, and evolving best practices to help you make decisions about whether you might use AI in ways that encourage innovation while protecting academic integrity, student data, and ethical standards.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based, structured program formulated to facilitate the cultivation of mindfulness through the use of specific meditative practices such as body scans, mindful breathing, gentle movement and stretches, and mindful walking. Facilitated by Dr. Angela Mariani, this 8-week course is a progressive series of 2-hour sessions, plus a dedicated all-day retreat in the middle of the course, guided by a trained instructor and supplemented by daily home practice exercises.
