A Police Officer I receives a step increase to Police Officer II after completion of one (1) year of service after being released from the Field Training Officer program and a satisfactory record of performance.

Overtime

Overtime assignments are available for all employees throughout the year.

Field Training Officers

Officers assigned as Field Training Officers receive $600.00 extra per year.

Longevity Pay

Eligible employees are paid $20 per month for every two years of lifetime service credit and receive an increase for each additional two years of service, up to and including 42 years of service in accordance with the Texas Government Code, Section 659.044.

Certificate pay

Officers and Communications Operators will receive an additional annual compensation for the completion of additional TCOLE proficiency beyond Basic.

Uniforms and Equipment

The department issues uniforms, duty gear and weapons. Uniformed employees (Officers, Guards,etc...) receive $1200 per year clothing allowance and Dispatchers receive $500 per year.

Hazardous Duty Pay

Eligible employees are paid $10 for each 12-month period of lifetime service credit (not to exceed $300 per month) in accordance with Texas Government Code, Section 659.305.

Educational Incentive

Employees pursuing a degree are eligible to receive a Tuition Fee Waiver for one course per term up to a maximum of four semester credit hours (SCH) during any fall, spring, or summer term and up to a maximum of ten SCH for any academic year.

Any employee who completes a degree after employment with the Texas Tech Police Department will receive additional compensation.
