Officials at Texas Tech University have announced that Michael Galyean will become the permanent dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, effective April 1. He was named interim dean in February 2011, taking the reins in July, on the retirement of John Burns. (more…)

Along with spring blooms, there’s something new, fresh and different coming this way shortly for 30 lucky students from Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. University officials report that they’ve finished selection of participants from the college who’ll be headed to England and Scotland at the end of this semester as part of a new college study abroad program. Texas Tech University’s meat judging team walked away with first place honors Sunday (March 4) at the Houston Livestock Show’s Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest. The Red Raider’s Black Team finished first and posted a total score of 4,053 points, winning the beef judging, lamb judging, pork judging, specifications, total placings and reasons divisions. Continuing the lead they secured last fall, Texas Tech’s Women’s Rodeo Team won the overall championship at the Weatherford College & Ranger College Rodeo this weekend (Mar. 1-3) in Weatherford. Team member Carley Richardson, a junior animal science major from Pampa, was crowned the Women’s All-Around Champion Cowgirl. (more…)
