Texas Tech’s Ranch Horse Team took champion and reserve champion honors last weekend in the Stock Horse of Texas Association Show’s Collegiate Division at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene. “I’m extremely proud of how everyone did,” said Tech Ranch Horse Team Coach Cooper Cogdell. “They’ve been working hard to prep for this first show and their hard work paid off.”

Highlighting the performance were six members of the Tech team who received individual honors. They were:

  • Kelsey Watring, a junior from Lakewood, Colo.; Non-Pro Reserve Champion

Texas Tech’s first-place team had a total of 291 points, 105 more than their closest competitor, Sul Ross State. Team members had the opportunity to compete against more than 220 other, non-collegiate competitors in the Stock Horse of Texas Association in the non-pro, limited non-pro and novice divisions.

Other members of the Tech team include:

  • Luke Abraham, a freshman from Canadian
  • Jennifer Bouse, a junior from Angleton
  • Ashley Daniel, a senior from Guthrie
  • Courtney Fredriksen, a freshman from Van Alstyne
