Top students, faculty highlight CASNR Honors Banquet at Merket Center

Outstanding students, staff and faculty from across Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were honored Friday (Apr. 26) at its annual Honors Banquet at the Merket Alumni Center in Lubbock. Sponsored by the Ag Council, the event featured a variety of honors.

Recipients of the outstanding student departmental awards were:

  • Kelsey Stokes; Agricultural and Applied Economics
  • Kassie Davidson; Agricultural Education and Communications
  • Brandon Reeves; Animal and Food Sciences
  • Lauren Lindsey; Landscape Architecture
  • Trevor Gicklhorn; Natural Resources Management
  • Ryan Gregory; Plant and Soil Science

Students with the highest academic achievement in their respective departments were:

  • Skylar Sowder; Agricultural and Applied Economics
  • Kassie Davidson and Theresa Graf; Agricultural Education and Communications
  • Brittany Thompson and Ashley Daggs; Animal and Food Science
  • Lauren Lindsey; Landscape Architecture
  • Kyle Brunson and Trevor Gicklhorn; Natural Resources Management
  • Holly Wilson; Plant and Soil Science

  • Kaitlyn True (Meat Science Association)
  • Paige Purvis (Conservation Biology)
  • Heather Williams (Conservation Biology)
  • Brandon Garcia (Conservation Biology)

Separately, new Ag Council leaders for the 2013-2014 were recognized. They were Krysti Kelley, president; Linsey Ogden, vice president; Christy Woerner, secretary; Gretchen Lochte, treasurer; and Brandon Garcia, scribe. Meanwhile, outstanding professor awards went to Jon Ulmer for Fall 2012 and Sam Jackson for Spring 2013. Outstanding staff members were Irita Winn for Fall 2012 and Moriah Beyers for Spring 2013.

Ag Council members include the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow; Agricultural Economics Association; Agri-Techsans; Agronomy Club; Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity; Ambassadors for Agriculture; American Society of Landscape Architects; Block & Bridle;  Collegiate 4-H; Collegiate FFA;  Food Science Club; Meat Science Association; Range, Wildlife, & Fisheries Club;  Sigma Alpha; Society for Conservation of Biology; Tech Collegiate Horsemen’s Association; and Tech Pre-Vet Society
