TEXAS TECH CELEBRATES PHILANTHROPY OF J. F MADDOX FOUNDATION

The official opening of the Maddox Engineering Research Center was held on Sept. 16 with Texas Tech University leaders celebrating the philanthropy of the J. F Maddox Foundation, which gave a generous $7.5 million gift for the facility. The 70,000 sq ft renovation will house the research groups of Drs. Chau-Chyun Chen and Nurxat Nuraje, both in the Department of Chemical Engineering, as well as new hires in the area of energy and sustainability. It will also house a state-of-the-art materials characterization facility, second to none in the State of Texas. The Maddox Foundation has been very generous to Texas Tech, including the establishment of the Jack Maddox Distinguished Engineering Chair, held by Dr. Chen in Chemical Engineering, and the Donovan Maddox Distinguished Engineering Chair, held by Dr. Danny Reible in Civil Engineering, who has a secondary appointment in Chemical Engineering.
