Legacy Family Award Nomination Guidelines

 

The application process opens on July 1 and closes August 1.

 

The Davis College Legacy Family Award recognizes a family — spanning at least three generations and/or multiple family branches of Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources graduates — that has substantially benefited from and continues to advocate for Davis College and Texas Tech University, and who are making meaningful contributions to the fields of agriculture, landscapes, and natural resources.

Criteria

Nominees should demonstrate:

  • A connection (student, alumni, and/or supporters) to the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources for three or more generations and/or family branches as a family unit. A minimum of three generations or family branches of Davis College graduates is required.
  • Service or support of Davis College and/or Texas Tech University throughout the years (leadership roles, volunteer roles, event participation, etc.).
  • Personal or professional contributions toward bettering the fields of agriculture, landscapes, and natural resources in Texas and beyond.

Nomination Materials

Families will submit the following:

  • Completed online nomination form.
  • Family Story – a maximum of 1200 words (max two pages) sharing how Davis College has impacted your family and how your family has supported Davis College and Texas Tech University.
  • A Family Tree – showing the generations and branches of family members, their graduating degrees and graduating classes.

All materials must be submitted by the deadline.

Selection Process

  • A committee will review the nominations.
  • One family will be selected each year.
  • Family contact will be notified following selection.
  • Winners will be recognized annually at the Davis College Homecoming Breakfast.
  • The Davis College Legacy Family Award may only be received once per family.

Timeline

The nomination process opens July 1st and closes on August 1st annually. Nominations received after that date will be considered for the following year.

All nominations will be kept on file for three years to be reviewed; however, nominators are encouraged to update forms if they are re-considered after the initial year of application.
