Don E. Ethridge Endowed Scholarship

Don Ethridge

The Don E. Ethridge Scholarship Endowment was established by the Agricultural Economics Association in 2008. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students majoring in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.

Don Ethridge grew up in Muleshoe, TX and attended Texas Tech University where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Agricultural Economics. He continued on to receive his Ph.D. in economics from North Carolina State University. He worked for the University of Missouri-Rolla, Central Intelligence Agency, and Economic Research Service for the US Department of Agriculture before teaching and conducting research at the Agricultural and Applied Economics Department at Texas Tech University. Don served as Chairman of the department from 1997 to 2005 and received various awards during his time at Texas Tech University. Some of these awards include: President's Academic Achievement Award, Outstanding Service to the U.S. Cotton Industry, Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Outstanding Researcher, Lifetime Achievement Award for Significant and Enduring Contributions to the Agricultural Economics Profession, and Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. Upon his retirement, the Agricultural Economics Association at Texas Tech University created this scholarship endowment to honor him for his contributions to the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.
