The Dr. Matt Baker Scholarship Endowment was established through an anonymous donation
in 2013. The scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Interdisciplinary Agriculture
with preference given to students in the Agricultural Leadership option.
Dr. Matt Baker is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications.
He served three years as the founding dean of the University College at Texas Tech
and eight years as the department chairperson. He received his B.S. (1979) and M.Ed.
(1986) from Texas Tech and his Ph.D. from Ohio State (1990). He currently teaches
undergraduate and graduate level courses and conducts research in capacity building
of agricultural colleges and programs in developing countries and various other topics.
He spends his summers volunteering for capacity building projects in developing countries
in West Africa and Asia.
