The Agricultural Education and Communications Rushing Family Foundation Scholarship
Endowment was established by W.B. “Dub” Rushing and the Rushing Family Foundation
in 2004. The scholarship is awarded to students majoring in the Department of Agricultural
Education and Communications.
In 2007, Dub passed away after a brief illness. He grew up in Lubbock and attended
Texas Tech. He was a very successful entrepreneur, with his most successful business
venture coming in 1934 when he opened Varsity Bookstore. He was also involved in the
construction and banking industry. He served on various community boards and was recognized
with the Texas Tech Ex-Students Distinguished Alumni Award. Dub was married to Mozelle
Rushing for 62 years and they had two sons, Don and Ted.
