R.A. Brown Ranch Scholarship Endowment was established by Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Brown, Jr. and family in 2002. These scholarships are for an entering freshman or currently enrolled student majoring in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources who has shown exceptional leadership ability in FFA, 4-H, or similar youth organizations and who shows promise for continued future leadership roles in the agricultural industry. These leadership abilities include characteristics such as the art of public speaking; ability to think and make decisions; human relations skills; enthusiasm; optimism; and the ability to instill the same leadership qualities in others. Scholarships can be renewed at the discretion of the committee with satisfactory progress of the student.

The R.A. Brown Ranch is a progressive family ranching business that has been producing some of the most superior cattle and Quarter Horses in the industry since 1895. They raise and sell four breeds of cattle: Angus, Red Angus, SimAngus, and Hotlander (a four-breed composite developed on the ranch in the late 80's). Extensive records are maintained on over 1,000 head of seedstock cows. Since 1974, they have held our annual production sale on the 2nd Wednesday in October at the ranch in Throckmorton, TX. Originally established by R.H. Brown, it is now in its 5th generation, owned and operated by Donnell and Kelli Brown.
