The Donald A. Johnson Scholarship Endowment was established in 2001 by the Plains
Cotton Growers and its members in his honor. These scholarships are available for
students majoring in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources
with preference to students who have a background and/or interest in cotton.
Donald A. Johnson graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science
in Agricultural Education in 1955. He served as the Executive Vice President of the
Plains Cotton Cooperative until retiring in 1997. Donald received the Gerald W. Thomas
Outstanding Agriculturalist award from the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences
& Natural Resources in 1917 for his work in public service. He has also been a member
of the Davis College Advisory Board for several years.
