The Dan and Julia Manning Scholarship was established 1985 by Mrs. Julia manning in
memory of her late husband, Mr. Dan Manning. Mr. and Mrs. Manning were long-time residents
of and farmed near Perryton, in Ochiltree County. These scholarships are available
for entering freshman majoring in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural
Resources. First preference will be given to residents of Ochiltree County, then to
all Panhandle residents.
In 1985, Julia Manning established the Dan and Julia Manning Foundation which provided
support for her and her siblings and has consistently provided funds for various charities
and scholarship endowments. In 1991, Julia passed away in 1991 and the last sibling
passed away in 2007. Today, an advisory committee determines the charities that will
receive the income from the foundation and continue to contribute to the established
scholarships.
