Plains Cotton Growers Inc. Government Internship Endowed Scholarship

The Plains Cotton Growers Inc. Endowment for Government Internship was established by the Plains Cotton Growers in 2000. This fund is to support State and Federal internship scholarships, housing, living expenses and air fare with preference to federal interns.

An advocate for High Plains cotton growers since 1956, Plains Cotton Growers has been tackling the tough issues facing cotton growers for almost 60 years. Organized by cotton producers from across the High Plains production region, PCG is a non-profit producer organization composed of cotton producers from the Texas High Plains. Leadership consists of a Board of Directors and a full-time staff of five. Through the years PCG has been instrumental in bringing needed economic relief to High Plains cotton growers through beneficial legislative and regulatory changes.

PCG helps develop key legislative programs and rules for implementation at the state and national level. They also work with the National Cotton Council on many issues including the Farm Bill, trade issues, State and Federal Agriculture Appropriations, Crop Insurance Reform and Improvement, and Conservation. Their most important service role is to advocate for producers at every level of government. Building strong relationships among members of Congress, USDA administrators and employees, and private industry allows PCG to influence the development of key legislation and rules governing USDA programs and encourage new risk-sharing programs for producers in partnership with key industry suppliers.
