Swinburn/Adcock Family

The Swinburn/Adcock Family Scholarship Endowment was established in 2018 by Carol Adcock to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources in honor of her husband, Robert, and two brothers, Max and Dale, all of whom attended Texas Tech. The scholarship was created to honor the family's long history with the University and the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.

Max Swinburn, graduated with a BS in Agronomy and an MS in Soil Science from Texas Tech in 1967 and 1971, respectively. Max is the Owner of Max Swinburn Farms. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Texas Corn Producers. He and his wife, Doris, reside in Dimmitt, TX. He has three children from a previous marriage: Stacy, who received a BS in Computer Science from TTU in 2000; Carol; and Michael. Doris has three daughters from a previous marriage: Kristi, who received a BS in Clothing Textiles & Merchandising from TTU in 1993; Carol, who received a BS and an MS in Communication Disorders from TTU in 1994 and 1996, respectively; and Carla, who received a BBA and an MSA in Accounting from TTU, both in 1999.

Dale Swinburn, graduated with a bachelor's degree in agronomy/crops in 1965. He lives and farms in Tulia, Texas and is a director and partner in Windstar, Inc., a cotton ginning and investment company, as well as a former director of Happy State Bank. He is a past board member of the Tulia Independent School District, Swisher County Memorial Hospital District, Swisher County Appraisal District and Westex Federal Land Bank. He has also served on the board of directors for Cotton Incorporated and the board of trustees for Ceta Canyon Methodist Camp. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Tulia, Texas, and serves on the Finance Committee for First United Methodist Church of Tulia, where he is a member. Dale was recognized with the Texas Tech University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008 and has served on the Davis College Dean's Advisory Board for the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. He received the college's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999 and was honored again in 2002 with the college's Gerald W. Thomas Outstanding Agriculturalist Award in the category of Agricultural Production. He and his wife, Cheryl Culwell Swinburn, have three sons: Scot, who received his BA in Marketing from Texas Tech University in 1991, Chad, a former student in Agricultural Sciences, and Dane, who received his BS in Agricultural Sciences from TTU in 2001, and five grandchildren. Dale and Cheryl's yard was included on the 2005 Tulia Ladies' Chamber Annual Yard Tour.

Their father, W. V. Swinburn, graduated from Texas Tech with an MED in Education in 1939.
