Joe and Faye Wise Endowed Scholarship

The Joe and Faye Wise Scholarship Endowment was established by the late Fay Wise, her sons Mark Wise, Hank Wise and family in 2007. The scholarship is awarded to sophomores, juniors, or seniors majoring in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. Preference is given to graduates of high schools located in Coleman County and students of the rural background.

Vera Faye (Tisdel) Wise, age 92 of Rockwood, passed away July 12, 2014 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Born on April 11, 1922 in Santa Anna, Texas to Ed M. and Lola (Day) Tisdel, Faye grew up in Whon and graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1937.

Faye was an active member of the Rockwood Baptist Church, the Rockwood Quilter's Club and the Gouldbusk 42 Club. She loved to play cards and bingo with family and friends and enjoyed watching all types of sports on TV. Faye was known for her gardening, cooking and baking that she shared with so many, especially her grandchildren.

Faye married Joe W. Wise on August 5, 1945 in Coleman, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1993. Together they had four sons, Joe Ed Wise, D.W. "Korky" Wise, Mark Wise, and Hank Wise, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mark Wise graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1976, a Master of Science in Animal Breeding in 1978, and went on to receive a PHD in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1982.
