The Paul and Betty Woods Scholarship Endowment was established by Paul and Betty Woods in 2009. The Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources based on financial need.

Paul Harlan Woods, a longtime Austin resident died at his home Saturday, June 19, 2004. Born in Cisco, Texas, on July 2, 1932, to Dr. Paul M. Woods and Ruth Harlan Woods, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Jean Woods; sister, Rosanne Hughston; son, Paul Mark Woods his wife, Claudia, and their children, Cayce and Paul; his daughter, Vicky Ruth Robins and husband, Tim Robins, M.D., and their sons, Nathan, Drew, and Trey.

A 1953 graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in Animal Production, Paul remained a loyal supporter of the university throughout his life. He owned several successful businesses in Beaumont, Irving and Austin. Paul was a 45 year member of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the board of the YMCA of Greater Austin, was involved in numerous charitable organizations, one of his favorites being serving meals to the homeless. He was an active member of Westlake United Methodist Church.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. He loved boating, riding his personal watercraft and was a founder of the Lake Austin 4th of July Boat Parade. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Paul lived his life to its fullest and gave his time and talents to enrich all he knew. He will be missed by his family and countless friends.
