Ross R. Wolfe-Luther Burbank Scholarship Fund
The Ross R. Wolfe-Luther Burbank Scholarship Fund was established by Ms. Billie Wolfe in 1985. This scholarship was established in honor of her father, Ross R. Wolfe, and Luther Burbank, a famous plant breeder. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduates or graduate students majoring in Landscape Architecture who demonstrate an understanding of resources as they affect people.
Ross Wolfe established the Wolfe Nursery in Stephenville, Texas in 1919. This nursery was purchased by J. Brad and Nancy Allen, and they now have Wolfe Nursery locations in Lubbock, Stephenville, and Fort Worth. Wolfe Nurseries are wholesale nurseries devoted to the landscape industry. Luther Burbank was a famous American plant breeder whose production of useful varieties of fruits, flowers, vegetables, and grasses encouraged the development of plant breeding into a modern science. He developed more than 800 new strains and varieties of plants and was published several times on his discoveries.
