Cecil and Elizabeth Brashear Scholarship Endowment
The Cecil and Elizabeth Brashear Scholarship Endowment was established by (Leslie)
Jean and Dean Nichols in 1991 in honor of her parents, Cecil and Elizabeth Brashear.
The scholarship is awarded to graduate and undergraduate students with an academic
focus on agronomy.
Cecil Brashear graduated from Texas Tech University in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science
in Soil Science. Cecil was born in Eastland, TX in 1912 to Martin and Maude Brashear.
After attending Texas Tech University, he began farming in Idalou and founded his
own corporation- Brashear's Fine Grass Seeds.
He and Elizabeth had three daughters- Alma Laura, Leslie Jean, and Martha Elizabeth
before moving to Comanche, TX where they lived out the rest of their lives. Cecil
passed away in March 1993 and Elizabeth passed away in April 1994.
