Cooksey named associate vice chancellor for development
The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources' director of development and external relations has been named associate vice chancellor for development with Texas Tech University System's Institutional Advancement Office.
Scott Cooksey, who steps into the new post on Jan. 1, will lead the Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University System development officer team.
Oversee Activities. In addition, officials said, he'll work directly with college deans and development officers in the management of college development efforts, as well as oversee the activities of the central and regional development officers and the planned giving office.
Cooksey has served as director of development and external relations for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources since 1997. Prior to joining Texas Tech, he was director of development for a large non-profit organization in Atlanta, Georgia. Before beginning his development career in 1991, he had a successful tenure in sales and retail.
Gratifying Work. Cooksey received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in marketing from Texas Tech in 1980. He holds Certified Fund Raising Executive accreditation.
Beyond his service to the college and university, Cooksey serves in numerous local, state and national positions with professional organizations involved in the advancement of the agricultural and natural resource industries and the development profession. He is also active in several community organizations.
"Working with CASNR faculty, alumni, friends and students is the most gratifying work I have ever done", Cooksey said. "The passion people have for the College and our students is amazing."
