Plant and Soil Science hires student services coordinator
Liz Ulliman was recently hired as coordinator of student services for Texas Tech University's Department of Plant and Soil. She will be working at department's main office, where she will be developing new opportunities to increase student enrollment.
"I look forward to working with students and sharing a passion for this university with them," she said.
Ulliman said she hopes to help prospective students, as well as concentrate on retaining current students and helping them get involved in student organizations.
Non-Traditional Students. She also wants to assist in recruiting non-traditional students, or more simply put students that do not come from agricultural backgrounds. Her efforts will center on encouraging students to become more involved in traditional organizations such as FFA and 4-H.
These groups are excellent sources for obtaining scholarships, as well as providing excellent contacts and skill development, she said
A native of Fort Worth, Ulliman earned a bachelor's degree earlier this year in biology and environmental science at Texas Tech. As an undergraduate, she was a member of Texas Tech's President's Select, a group of student ambassadors chosen to serve the university through the office of the president, office of admissions and Texas Tech athletics in recruitment of new students, as well as foster relationships with prospective students, special guests and alumni.
