CASNR students shine in research poster competition
Six students from Texas Tech University's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were honored at the university's Seventh Annual Graduate Student Research Poster Competition. The program, titled "Celebrating Graduate Student Research," was held earlier this year at the Tech Library's Teaching, Learning and Technology Center.
CASNR recipients were:
Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources - Category 1" 1st Place; Heather Rogers of Grapevine; Department of Animal and Food Sciences, "Impact of packaging and temperature abuse on the shelf-life characteristics of ground beef"" 2nd Place; Lindsay Penrose of Olney; Department of Animal and Food Sciences, "A Preparatory Technique for Semen Selection"" 3rd Place; Matt Sellers of League City; Department of Animal and Food Sciences, "Use of a Novel Antioxidant Compound to Improve Sperm Quality During Storage"
Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources - Category 2" 1st Place; Natalia Castillo of Columbia; Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, "Screening and Evaluating Wild Cotton for Salt Tolerance Characteristics"" 2nd Place; Raina King of Lubbock; Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, "Physiological Aspect of the Caducous Bract of Gossypium harknesii"" 3rd Place; Neha Kothari of India; Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, "Fiber Quality Variability within a Plant"
Separately, Thayne Montague, a Department of Plant and Soil Sciences' associate professor of horticulture with joint appointment with Texas AgriLife Research, received 'Five Years' recognition among service award recipients.
