'Tis the season for PSS poinsettias
It's a little early to start talking Christmas with the Red Raiders still on their BCS roll and colorful leaves still clinging to campus trees, but then again, maybe not. One clear sign of Santa's imminent return is this week's announcement that holiday poinsettias are now on sale through the Department of Plant and Soil Science for the benefit of the Texas Tech Horticulture Society student organization.
According to officials, the traditional holiday plants are once again available at the College of Agricultural and Natural Resources' greenhouse complex, located on the corner of Main and Hartford just north of the United Spirit Arena.
Pick-Up Plants. Though the department encourages advance orders, walk-in purchases are available. The poinsettias stand about 18-inches tall and sell for $14, payable by cash, check or departmental funds transfer.
As an added holiday bonus, orders of five or more plants include free on-campus delivery. All other orders should be picked up from the Texas Tech Greenhouse Complex between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday during the first week of December.
