The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the trees are budding "" all signs that
spring is just around the corner. In preparation for producing a hardy carpet of green
grass from the West Texas plains, members of Texas Tech University's Turf Club today
announced a spring yard scalping program.
Schedule Service. The fundraising project for the student group at Tech is limited to the first 40
individuals who schedule service, said Gerald Henry, an assistant professor of turfgrass
science with Tech's Department of Plant and Soil Science. The cost is $50 for less
than 0.25 acres (10,890 square-ft) and $75 for more than 0.25 acre.
The deadline to sign up is March 11, and the actual service will be done from March
16 to 20. Henry noted that requests for additional services will be considered.
