Fresh Faces: Three CASNR freshmen take Texas FFA leadership posts
Three standout students from Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources are among 10 Texas FFA officers that have been selected to represent the organization's 10 areas in the state.
Texas FFA announced the election of its new leadership team at its convention in Corpus Christi, said Allison Bequette, communications coordinator with the Texas FFA.
Among the group from Texas Tech are:
"Patrick Byrne, a freshman agricultural communications from Eagle Pass, vice-president of Area
X Association-Eagle Pass Chapter
"Gavin Luckett, a freshman agricultural education from Matador, vice-president of Area I Association-Valley
Chapter
"Katelyn Perry, a freshman agricultural communications from Iowa Park , vice-president of Area
IV Association-Iowa Park Chapter
FFA elects officers to travel the state and nation, making presentations advocating agriculture and education to FFA chapters and interested groups. The Texas FFA is the nation's largest state FFA association with a membership of 80,000 active FFA members in Texas and 1,000 local FFA chapters.
According to a statement from the organization, Texas FFA programs teach skills in leadership, career development and personal growth. FFA gives students the opportunity to practically apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
