Faculty Convocation; Texas Tech honors work of six CASNR standouts
Six outstanding faculty members from Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources received awards for their quality teaching and research during the university's annual Faculty Honors Convocation on Tuesday (Apr. 19) at the Human Sciences Building.
"If you think about it graduation is a way to recognize the accomplishments of our students; this convocation is a way to recognize the accomplishments and the achievements of our faculty," said President Guy Bailey.
Among those honored were:
"President's Excellence in Teaching Award "" Chance Brooks. He is an associate professor of meat science with Texas Tech's Department of Animal
and Food Sciences
"President's Academic Achievement Award "" Thomas Knight. He is a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics
"Texas Tech Alumni Association New Faculty Award "" Courtney Meyers. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications
"Outstanding Researcher Award "" Mindy Brashears. She is a professor in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences and Director of
Texas Tech's International Center for Food Industry Excellence
"Paul Whitfield Horn Professor Designation "" Markus Miller. He is a professor of meat science and muscle biology with the Department of Animal
and Food Sciences
"Chancellor's Council Distinguished Teaching Award "" Markus Miller. He is also Texas Tech's San Antonio Livestock Show Distinguished Chair in Meat Science
"Chancellor's Council Distinguished Research Award "" Eric Hequet . He is associate director of Texas Tech's Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute
Among the other awards presented at the afternoon ceremony were the President's Book Award given to outstanding faculty authors, as well as the Barnie E. Rushing Jr. Faculty Distinguished Research Award, Horn Professor Graduate Achievement Awards and the Teaching Academy Departmental Excellence in Teaching Award.
