CASNR Honors Banquet spotlights achievement at Merket Center

Dozens of outstanding students, staff and faculty from across Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were honored Friday (Apr. 29) at its annual Honors Banquet at the Merket Alumni Center in Lubbock. Sponsored by the Ag Council, the event featured a variety of honors, including the selection of Josh McCann as the college's outstanding student.
Recipients of the outstanding student departmental awards were:

Separately, new Ag Council leaders for the 2008-2009 were recognized. They were Trevor White, president; Drew Cashman, vice president; Adeline Fox, secretary; Dakota Williams, treasurer; and Sarah Wilson, scribe. Student government senators Jay Burrous; Reed Young; Brandon Reeves; and Trevor White were also recognized.
Meanwhile, outstanding professor awards went to Courtney Meyers for Fall 2010 and Kevin Pond for Spring 2011. Outstanding staff members were Irita Winn for Fall 2010 and Kayla Rathmann for Spring 2011.
Ag Council members include the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow; Agricultural Economics Association; Agri-Techsans; Agronomy Club; Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity; Ambassadors for Agriculture; American Society of Landscape Architects; Block & Bridle; Collegiate 4-H; Collegiate FFA; Donald Ashdown Entomology Club; and FarmHouse Fraternity.
Other members are the Food Science Club; Horticulture Society; Meat Science Association; Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources & Related Sciences; Pi Alpha Xi; Range, Wildlife and Fisheries Club; Sigma Alpha; Society for Conservation of Biology; Student Association for Fire Ecology; Tech Collegiate Horsemen's Association; Tech Pre-Vet Society; and Tech Turf.
