Career Expo; CASNR recruiters take home 'Outstanding Booth Award'
Members of Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Agri-Techsans recruiting team and the Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center won the 'Outstanding Booth Award for the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Division' on Tuesday (Oct. 25) at the South Plains Career Expo in Lubbock's Memorial Civic Center.
"It's an honor for our office to be recognized by our peers as the winner of this award," said Rachel Bobbitt, coordinator of student programs for the Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center, as well as coordinator of the student Agri-Techsan organization. "We've always known that our Agri-Techsans are outstanding representatives of our college, and this award confirms that."
More than 3,400 Lubbock-area high school juniors and seniors attended the annual event. According to program officials, the career expo exposes junior and senior students to educational and career opportunities in the region. It allows the students to network with regional businesses and colleges to get a jump start on choosing a career pathway.
Agri-Techsans serve as the official student recruiters for CASNR, Bobbitt said. The group is made up of representatives from each department in the college who come from diverse backgrounds. Members travel across the state to career days, job fairs and various classrooms to promote Texas Tech University and CASNR to high school students.
